Compositions
I have a deep passion for writing melodic music. Melodies and ideas come to me when I play, sing, or in the state between dreaming and wakefulness. I enjoy weaving together many voices, creating a rich soundscape. My compositions strive to be inclusive, giving every instrument and voice the opportunity to play a prominent and meaningful role.
Works for symphony orchestra
“Winter’s spring” (Vårvinter), 7 min, 2025. Debut symphonic composition which reflects the turbulent transition from winter to spring above the Arctic Circle in Norway.
“North”, 6 min, 2025. A symphonic journey into the vast, melancholic beauty of the northern landscapes.
“Arctic Dances”, 9 min, 2025. A composition that weaves shifting rhythms, textures and dynamics, creating a sense of motion and transformation. At its heart lies a playful waltz. Work in progress.
Works for chamber orchestra
“Elegy”, 3 min, 2025. Composed in A minor, this piece seeks to convey my despair over our polarized and broken world. Written for a mournful solo flute (or violin) and string orchestra.
"Ode", 4 min, 2025. Ode is a trio celebrating life. Can be performed in many different orchestrations, for example "flute, cello and double bass" or "clarinet, horn and bassoon". Please contact me if you want it arranged for your trio.
“Kindred Voices”, 4 min, 2025. Written for a solo flute, solo violin and string orchestra. The piece has an undulating feeling, with the different instruments constantly taking turns driving the melody. Work in progress.
“Les Folies d'Tromsø”, 3 min, 2025. Seven variations for a woodwind quintet, inspired by the beautiful "Folies d'Espagne" variations, written by Marin Marais in the 17th century.
“Tose”, 3 min, 2024. Originally written for guitar and vocals, here arranged for Flute and Oboe. The name simply comes from a combination of mine and my eldest daughter's name. Together, we are Tose.
Works for choir
“Duality”, 5 min, written in 2025. My first choral piece explores the contrasting light and dark sides of human nature. Work in progress and lyrics will be added.
About me
I've been immersed in music my whole life, but it is only recently that I've started composing, discovering a genuine sense of creativity and purpose.
In 2022, I was severely affected by long Covid, leaving me with devastating fatigue for 18 months. Late 2023, I began to recover, and one of the first things I could do was play a little guitar and piano. Unable to focus on sheet music, I started creating my own melodies and falling in love with the art of composing.
My primary instrument is the flute, and I enjoy performing as a soloist. I’ve also been an active choir singer for many years.
When I’m not crafting melodies, you might find me scaling mountains or just embracing the beauty of the North. I also work as a university professor in renewable energy at The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, where I live with my wonderful wife and two daughters. My specialization is solar energy, and I am dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions and minimizing my climate impact.
My sincerest hope is that I, through my music, can evoke genuine emotions. I hope you enjoy exploring my compositions and the stories they tell you!

Milestones
July 2025, Participation in the annual Vestlandsk Summer Symphony (VSS) for the fourth time. VSS is an orchestra course organized by the Norwegian Symphony Orchestras' National Association. This year, I had the great honor of playing several of my own compositions, including works for symphony orchestra and chamber music. The result was overwhelmingly positive feedback and recognition from professional and amateur musicians of all ages. They described my music as beautiful, inspiring, minimalist, with rich, wonderful textures and harmonies. The feedback came from all sections of the orchestra. This means a lot to hear, as I strive to write inclusive music that gives all instrument groups an important role.
March 2025, First performance of Winter’s Spring (Vårvinter), my debut symphonic orchestra composition. Performed by Tromsø City Orchestra in The Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø, Norway. Vårvinter received very positive feedback from the international audience in the church.
April 2024, I embark on my journey of composing classical music.
